The History of Roulette

Roulette is one of the casino's true classics, and it's a rare casino that doesn't have it. But roulette was not always exactly the way it appears to us now. There were several different changes the game went through over the centuries before it finally became our beloved classic.

Before the game of roulette was actually invented, there were other games that bore a resemblance to roulette. There were games played in Europe, especially in England, Italy and France. These games featured a wheel, sometimes multi-colored, as well as a small ball. A few of these early games may have been used to create the game we now know as roulette.

Roulette literally means little wheel in French, where the game originally came from. This earliest roulette version was a little different from the one we know today. It is believed that famous mathematician Blaise Pascal, a probability expert, created the game of roulette himself.

A casino in Paris began using a roulette wheel in much the way they are known today in 1796. After it had been in play for awhile, proving popular with Parisian casino players, it began to spread outside of Paris. In the early 1800s the roulette wheel began popping up in the United States. The game as it was had a very small house edge, prompting American casinos to change the game slightly. An extra number was added to give the house a better advantage, and American roulette was born.

When gambling and casinos were illegal in France, the game became popular elsewhere. Hamburg, Germany, was a special hotspot for the game. Roulette players flocked to Hamburg to play the game, and took the idea of roulette with them when they left. Soon roulette was spreading throughout the world.

When France adopted legalized gambling, roulette was still restricted to just one area. Monte Carlo was the home of roulette for a long time, and players flocked there to play the popular table game. In 1933 it became legal for roulette to be played outside of Monte Carlo, and French casinos have never looked back.

Now, with the advent of the internet, roulette has changed in form again. Online roulette has made it possible for anyone, anywhere to play roulette from the comfort of their own home. Virtual casinos offer all the excitement of roulette without any need to travel. Now there is no limit to the play of roulette, whether it is in a virtual casino or in its brick and mortar counterpart.

And with the internet, has also come the rise of convenient roulette systems. One roulette systems were something that only the highest tier of gambler knew about, but now anyone can learn a roulette system. The internet has made the information available, like the game, night or day. People seeking workable roulette systems have a lot to choose from, and not all will deliver what is promised. There is just one system available online that really does what it says and delivers an unbeatable system, and that system is available through www.winning-at-roulette.com.
